For Adults or Children, our classes offer more than the usual benefits you find in the typical martial arts program. Below you will find the 7 Reasons to Join Ambrose Academy of Wing Chun Do. An excellent martial arts program with a caring instructor will provide the benefits always associated with martial arts, such as focus, self-esteem, confidence, and discipline. For over 34 years, we have been offering that and much more. Ambrose Academy is an award-winning school with award-winning programs with over 300 testimonials giving our school a five-star rating. Why is Ambrose Academy such an acclaimed school?

#1. We treat you like family.

It can be intimidating for most adults and children to walk into a martial art school for the first time. A welcoming atmosphere and nurturing style make the shyest people feel comfortable in our martial arts setting. Friendly, caring instructors and a helpful student body make Ambrose Academy a unique place contributing to your mental and physical well-being.

#2. Award-winning instructor, Sitai-gung (GrandMaster) Rocco Ambrose.

He is the inheritor of Wing Chun Do Gung Fu, a self-defense system with a genuinely inspiring legacy, Ip Man, Bruce Lee, James DeMile, and now as the Grandmaster of Wing Chun Do, Rocco Ambrose. Named Teacher of the Decade and awarded the Sijo Award, Rocco Ambrose offers detailed explanations, ensuring you possess a thorough understanding of concepts and techniques, putting you on the path to develop your own personal Wing Chun Do tool pouch.

#3. The Lineage of Wing Chun Do

Wing Chun Do Gung Fu is the real deal regarding self-defense for the average person. Defined by Sijo James DeMile, a student of Bruce Lee's original Seattle group, Sijo DeMile has taken what Bruce Lee taught him and created Wing Chun Do Gung Fu in 1974. Before leaving for California, Bruce Lee had faith in his students. He allowed Jesse Glover, James DeMile, and Leroy Garcia to open a school together, leaving his first school to Taky Kimura. After moving to Hawaii and just after Bruce Lee's death, Sijo DeMile, analytical and science-driven, wrote down everything he understood from Bruce about technique, concepts, speed, and power, creating Wing Chun Do.

#4. The Art and Science

Wing Chun Do will intrigue and astound you with the logic and science behind its core techniques. "It makes so much sense" is a phrase we always hear. Using Bruce's modified and deep conceptual understanding of centerline, direct line of attack, power generation, acceleration and speed, spring energy, and footwork, the biomechanics and science behind Wing Chun Do genuinely embodies the phrase "Turning Martial Art into Martial Science." Decompress from your day and turn your concentration on full blast while you play and train Wing Chun Do. Discover the little-known link between Jun Fan and Jeet Kune Do that makes everything work.

#5. How you will feel.

Valued and empowered, you turn off the rest of the world and immerse yourself in learning and training in practical self-defense and personal growth. You have an opportunity to be part of a great lineage, learn some fundamental common sense self-defense skills, and in this context, find out what you really can do and who you are, and feel good about what you find.

#6. Award-winning school

Parents and students know that Ambrose Academy offers a great learning experience giving the school a five-star rating with over 300 testimonials. Our school was named Best Family-Friendly Business by Nickelodeon's Parents Picks Award two years in a row and a previous winner of WDIV4theBest as well as one of the top five schools in Michigan. For every inaugural "Best of" competition, local editors place Ambrose Academy at the top of the list regarding its reputation and excellence in the martial arts school category.

#7. You want to connect.

People need synergy, camaraderie, and a chance to make friendships. Working together, helping others to improve, and talking to each other through the learning process builds community bonds. We need to break the cycle of isolation that the pandemic has created. We want to connect and feel safe with like-minded people that love what we love, the martial arts.

There is so much more than the reasons given above. Ambrose Academy is focused on the safety awareness and security of its students, both physically and mentally. Through life skills of success and personal growth training, we add to the reasons to join. Our students benefit and grow the skill sets that help them change how they view the world.
